Permanently closed - the Argentinian courtyard restaurant at Günterstalstraße 37 ceased operations in October 2025.

Baires was a small Argentinian restaurant at Günterstalstraße 37 in the Mittelwiehre, run by Analía Linder. Its location was barely visible from the street: the dining room sat set back in a quiet inner courtyard, which for years earned it a reputation as a Wiehre insider tip. The place was known for handmade empanadas, Argentinian sides and the asado from the charcoal grill, offered once a month - on the first Saturday - as a longer grill table.

Before moving to Günterstalstraße, Analía Linder had already run Baires elsewhere in Freiburg, including as a bistro on Schwarzwaldstraße. The move to the Wiehre brought a shift toward a more classic restaurant operation focused on Argentinian grill cuisine and a small selection of South American wines. Its proximity to Annaplatz and Lorettostraße made the restaurant a fixture of the dining scene between Wiehre station and the Lorettoberg.

In October 2025 the owner ended operations and closed the restaurant. The address at Günterstalstraße 37 is therefore no longer listed as an Argentinian venue in the Wiehre. Anyone looking for a successor use or a possible restart should check the current situation before visiting.
