Schlossberg Festival

Live music on three stages above the rooftops of Freiburg - eight days across three weekends in 2026.

The Schlossberg Festival - formerly known as the Schlossbergfest - has been held on Freiburg's local hill for around 40 years under the motto „above the rooftops of Freiburg in the glow of countless strings of lights“. Music plays on three stages at Kanonenplatz, Burggraben and Ludwigshöhe. In 2026 the festival runs for eight days across three weekends (31 July-1 Aug, 6-8 Aug and 13-15 Aug). Entry is 5 euros on Thursdays and 5 to 6 euros on Fridays and Saturdays, with free admission for children up to 12; a happy hour runs daily from 18:30 to 19:30. The Schlossberg rises above the old town rather than the Wiehre - from the district you can walk up through the old town or take the Schlossbergbahn funicular.
